Description
EcoDance is a building project launched by choreographer, Hallie Aldrich, and movement artist, Sarah Haas. The two have joined forces to build artist-specific, eco-friendly mobile performance dwellings through a collaborative process of inquiry and experimentation that addresses practical issues in performance, architecture, and ecology. Currently EcoDance is building models for Incite Company and Raw Art. Their individual plans are detailed on the Founders page. Read more... Plan EcoDance's research, collecting, and networking phase began in January, 2011. Projected for August 2011, the last phase sends two completed ecomobiles on the road with Aldrich and Haas on two separate, art-minded expeditions, ready to engage the public using the ecomobiles as a stage, community gathering space, living area, rehearsal area, and much more.... Read more... Mission EcoDance fosters creative inquiry through creative cultural exchange, and provides freedom from the obstacles faced by movement artists today. The dwellings lower artist expenses by providing permanent accessibility to space. This savings extends to the public in the form of lower ticket prices and more performance events. Finally, dwellings serve as a facilitation space for collaborative workshops, creative activities and community events. Eco Within this process is a consideration for environmental impact designs, such as solar energy for electricity and hot water, rooftop rainwater reservoirs, collecting reclaimed/recycled material from the community; converting our trucks to biodiesel further appeals to our environmental consciousness. Follow EcoDance founders chronicle their building, creating and traveling stories on their blog and post updates on their Facebook group. |
